2010 Shows

From farm animals to intergalactic fantasy, CET’s 2010 season is full of delightful characters, song, dance, color and kids.  CET proudly presents six plays, a night of Improv and a final showcase of students’ creativity and hard work.

Theatre Sports Night – July 15, West Salem High School

Join the Improv class as they ramp up the antics in a fast-paced, fun-filled show, based loosely on the popular TV show, Whose Line Is It, Anyway?  Admission: donation to the CET scholarship fund.

The Little Red Hen Goes to a Hoedown – July 16, 17 & 18, Salem Art Fair

This year’s Park Play features the biscuit-baking Little Red Hen, her barnyard buddies, four narrators and a whole lotta dancin’!  Admission: free.

Cinderella Confidential – July 17 & 18, Salem Art Fair, and July 19, West High School

This year’s Level 7 (high school) play is “the Cinderella story with a twist” – including career-driven reporters, not-so-standard fairy tale characters, and of course the obnoxious stepsisters.  Admission: free at the Art Fair; $5/$7 reserved at West High School.

The Adventures of Isabel – July 20, 21 & 22, Salem Library

Based on a poem by Ogden Nash, this adventure in a boy’s backyard explores friendship, being brave and having fun.  Admission: free; tickets available at the library on the day of the performance.

Midsummer Festival: Thumbelisa and Boxes, July 20 & 21, West Salem High School

First-year students have the opportunity to shine in these two original plays written by CET instructors.  Meet Thumbelisa who floats away on a lily pad, meeting sweet and unsavory characters along the way.  And see kids get creative with boxes as their only “toys.”  Admission: $5.

Starmites: A Musical Odyssey, July 22 and 23, West Salem High School

Catch the magic when Eleanor is thrust into her fantasy world of sci-fi comic books, and becomes a teen superhero who faces the likes of the Arch-Creep of Chaos and the Starmites, the guardian angels of Innerspace!  Admission: $5/$7 reserved.

Fine Arts Night Festival, July 24, West Salem High School

Students showcase their CET classroom material, from singing to puppetry, dance to stage combat, mime to monologues.  Hosted by the CET Students of the Year, the evening stage show is the finale of five weeks of hard work, fun, creativity and friendship.
